Fiagril donated 14 tons of food to social organizations that work in the cities where the company has branches in the States of Mato Grosso, Tocantins and Amapá. The action is part of Fiagril’s social business investment strategy to support initiatives in the communities where it operates.
Besides the food, equivalent to 1,000 food baskets, more than 300 packages of geriatric diapers were also donated to the Home for the Elderly in Alta Floresta. The deliveries were made in partnership with the branches, which surveyed the social organizations in each city.
The action strengthens the company’s commitment to integrate social, environmental and governance factors to business, as explained by Fiagril’s CEO, Henrique Mazzardo. “We work from the standpoint of transforming lives by connecting sustainable production with the world, and we are increasingly strengthening this principle in all our actions, including by supporting social initiatives in the communities.
In the overall, 17 social organizations were contemplated in the Municipalities of Cuiabá, Sinop, Ipiranga do Norte, Feliz Natal, Nova Mutum, Juara, Sorriso, Tapurah, Lucas do Rio Verde, Matupá, Guaraí (TO), Macapá (AP), Porto Nacional (TO), Silvanópolis (TO), and Gurupi (TO).
The Secretary of Social Assistance of Feliz Natal, Thais Nicaretta, highlighted the importance of solidarity in times of difficulty. In the City, the donation was made to CRAS. “Many families are going through hard times, but sometimes, out of shame, they don’t have access to the food baskets. Actions like Fiagril’s are fundamental for us to be able to help these families”.
Other actions
Fiagril also supports other socio-environmental actions. Aiming to stimulate sports and citizen formation of young people in the Municipality of Lucas do Rio Verde, the company supports the Soccer School of Luverdense Esporte Clube (Lec), in Lucas do Rio Verde, which serves children and teenagers between 7 and 15 years old.
Besides this initiative, Fiagril develops, in partnership with the Municipal Government of Lucas do Rio Verde, through the Secretariat of Environment and the Association of Recyclable Material Collectors (Acorlucas), the “De Olho no Óleo” [With an Eye on Cooking Oil] project, where the main objective is the correct disposal of used cooking oil in Lucas do Rio Verde. Later, at the company’s plant, the collected material will be transformed into biodiesel and sustainable energy.
Through the Social Fuel Program, Fiagril buys raw material from small producers, besides providing free technical assistance to all family farmers hired individually or linked through agricultural cooperatives.
Fiagril has been operating for 34 years and it is a reference in the origination of grains, distribution of agricultural inputs, production of biodiesel and technical assistance to producers. Its purpose is to transform lives by connecting sustainable production to the world.
