Barter Ultra is a new tool that gives the producer security and the possibility of a better result when it comes time to commercialize soybeans. Developed by Fiagril, in addition to assuring the cost of production, it allows for increased profitability and a better exchange ratio of inputs.
The negotiation of products in the Barter format is traditional at Fiagril, in which the company supplies the producer with inputs for planting and receives payment in bags of grain. Now, with the Ultra modality, besides this facility, the customer can also participate in the valuation of soybean in the market.
Guilherme Kummer, Director of origination and Biodiesel at Fiagril, explains that this mode opens up a greater possibility of profitability. “It is an operation carried out in the financial market, which does not require the purchase of an additional volume of physical soybean,” he explains.
This is how it works: With Barter Ultra, Fiagril ensures the “floor” price, assuring the exchange ratio of inputs, as well as opening the opportunity to profit in case of appreciation with the Chicago exchange. To do so, a “bull spread” mechanism is made available.
“Two operations are performed. In the first operation, Fiagril guarantees the price. In case of a low price, the producer has a fixed and guaranteed price. In the second operation, if there is an increase in the price until maturity, when soybeans are delivered, the customer receives this profitability additive”, he pointed out.
The profit obtained with the negotiation is totally destined to the producer and can be applied in own investments. “Fiagril has a complete portfolio of inputs for new negotiations, acquisition of space for storage in our units and anticipation of future due dates”, emphasizes Guilherme Kummer.
Trade values are fixed in either US Dollar or Brazilian Real currencies. The possible result obtained at the expiration of the bull spread remains in the dollar currency until the Barter’s expiration, which enables the predictability of the transaction.

The brand has grown and today has 26 units in the States of Mato Grosso, Amapá, and Tocantins. It is a reference in the agribusiness sector, especially in the supply of fertilizers, pesticides, grain origination, production and trade of seeds, and in the manufacturing of biodiesel.
