Fiagril visita cooperativa parceira do programa Combustível Social
In September, Fiagril visited the Cooperative of Qualified Farmers of the State of Alagoas (COOPAQ). The institutions are partners in the Social Fuel Program, which is an agent for the promotion of social inclusion of family farmers framed in the National Program for the Strengthening of Family Farming (Pronaf).
The visit was represented by a multidisciplinary team led by the Director of Origination and Industrial Operations, Guilherme Kummer. “We celebrated this partnership some time ago, and we have now come to get to know up close the players that are involved. For us, this is a particularly important project, which celebrates our ideal of promoting sustainable development,” he said.
Through the program, Fiagril buys raw materials from small producers, besides providing free technical assistance to all family farmers hired individually or linked through agricultural cooperatives. “In this way, the producers can guarantee the sale of these products and we can somehow contribute to their quality of life,” said Guilherme Kummer.
The seal
It was created by the Federal Government in 2004 to facilitate the access of family farmers to the biofuel market. In exchange, the seal, which is valid for a period of five years, is granted to the biodiesel producing company that helps in this promotion of the social inclusion of the producers included in the Pronaf.
Built in 2007, Fiagril’s Biodiesel Plant is located in the Municipality of Lucas do Rio Verde and produces sustainable fuel from soybean, cotton and corn oil. The plant has a flow capacity of 1,500 meters³ per day.
