The electronic waste is resold, and the amount collected is used to guarantee improvements in the HCanMT, which serves thousands of people through SUS.
Transforming electronic waste into an investment to save lives is possible. This is because the Hospital do Câncer de Mato Grosso (HCanMT) runs a campaign to stimulate the donation of electronic devices considered trash and the amount collected is invested in the unit. Fiagril entered as a partner and made a large donation this month.
The initiative was taken by Fiagril’s Information Technology team, which made a survey of the items that were no longer used in the company. The hospital received 76 computers, 23 monitors, and 18 notebooks that were to be discarded. This equipment will be resold by the Hospital do Câncer and the value can be applied in improvements in the unit that provides an excellent job to society.
The action is an initiative of HCanMT, Ecodescarte, Teoria Verde and Carvalima Transportes, with all the volunteers, groups, institutions and partner companies in more than 20 Cities of the State. This year, Fiagril joined this team and made the donation.
Besides supporting the hospital, the campaign also helps the environment. The incorrect disposal of electronic waste is very harmful, since these devices are composed of substances that have a high power of soil and water contamination, such as lead, mercury, cadmium, and beryllium. This waste also takes time to decompose naturally, and it can be reused.
According to Fiagril’s CEO, Henrique Mazzardo, this action is linked to the company’s purpose, to transform lives, connecting sustainable production to the world. “This also means contributing to the development of the communities where we operate,” says Mazzardo.
Hygiene kits
In reference to Women’s month, Fiagril also donated kits with feminine hygiene products to the Central Única das Favelas (Cufa) of the State of Mato Grosso. The company assembled 110 kits containing packages of pads, soap, shampoo, conditioner, antiperspirant, toothpaste, and toothbrush. The materials will be donated to women, heads of families, who are assisted by the entity in needy bairros of Cuiabá and Várzea Grande.
The president of Cufa, Anderson Zanovello, thanked the donation and said that women from bairros such as 24 de Dezembro and Vila Operária in Várzea Grande, as well as the more peripheral region in Pedra 90, in Cuiabá, will be assisted. He says that women miss these products when they receive, for example, a basic food basket, because not all of them can afford to buy hygiene items, and this is very harmful to women, whether at school or in a work environment.
Fiagril has been operating for over 34 years and is a reference in the origination of grains, distribution of agricultural inputs, production of biodiesel and technical assistance to producers. Its purpose is to transform lives by connecting sustainable production to the world.
