Fiagril migrates sector operations to new brand and projects growth in biodiesel

Fiagril has expanded its investments in biodiesel production in Mato Grosso, with a view to its growth strategy by 2028. To this end, it has migrated its shares in this business area to a new brand, Green Ventures. The factory, located in Lucas do Rio Verde (MT), has a production capacity of 202 million liters per year and a daily outflow of 1.5 million liters.

As of July, the company will concentrate its production and new investments in biodiesel at Green Ventures, which produces biofuel from soybean, cotton and corn oils. By-products of this process include fatty acids, sludge and glycerin.

Most of Green Ventures’ biodiesel production comes from soybean oil, but the company installed new production lines in 2023, which will ensure greater production from corn and cottonseed oils. Its production is destined for fuel distributors in all regions.

Brazil, as the world’s second largest producer of biodiesel, has seen the sector grow significantly. Mato Grosso is leading this transformation and is the largest producer of this type of fuel in the country, accounting for 20% of national production.

With 17 plants in operation, the state stands out in this production and the tendency is to grow even more, given that the biodiesel percentage in diesel rose from 12% to 14% in March, an authorization that was brought forward from 2025 to this year by decision of the National Energy Policy Council (CNPE).

“The biodiesel market in Brazil is very dynamic and competitive, but the outlook for the coming years is very positive. Fiagril has been operating in this sector since 2008 and Green Ventures will continue the company’s growth strategy,” says Fiagril’s CEO, Henrique Mazzardo.

“In this sense, Green Ventures, with its expertise and focus on biodiesel production, is aligned with the positive outlook for this market. Fiagril’s growth strategy, through this new brand, reinforces its commitment to sustainability and the search for renewable energy sources,” emphasizes Mazzardo.
